FIREBUG build up has begun...

The FireBug takes shape…
Last updated 27/4/2006

The Firebug is designed to compete in the unlimited class of both the Australian WErock and OZrock competitions.

Pip from ABT Fabrication (/Just Customs) has welded the frame out, and the laser cut brackets will start going on over the next few days. Most of the components have arrived and are waiting eagerly for fitout...

Team Firetruck place 5th at OZrock Innagrual competition

The innagrual round of OZrock was held on the 10th and 11th of December 2005 near Yea in Victoria. The courses were extreme, a lot of competitors were trying out new buggies for the first time, and Team Firetruck were kicking ass...until we had a massive breakage.

We punished the jeep so hard that the front output on the Atlas transfer case snapped and left us out of of the competition as we did not have a spare Atlas with us.

It was extremely unfortunate and unexpected, and we were dissapointed as our scores from the first day of competition had us easily in 2nd place and were looking good to take out 1st or second place on the final day.

We were only 10 points from taking out 3rd place and didn't get to complete any courses at all on day 2. The result just hardens our resolve to win the first OZrock event in 2006.

Thanks to all of the event organisers and our sponsors for ensuring we had a great time.

Once again their are hundreds of amazing photos at OffroadImages

Team Firetruck place 8th at WErock Finals

The finals for WErock Australia were held on the 19th and 20th of November at Milbordale in New South Wales at the same site that Tuff Truck is traditionally held. Except this competition had a twist....the courses were insane.

Course design was carried out by Lil Rich from the USA.
Five teams came from the USA to compete against the Aussie rockcrawling team.
Heaps of new aussie teams and buggies turned out for the toughest comp yet.

The weekend was amazing and we pushed the limits of the Firetruck again and again on the absolute hardest courses we have seen in compeition yet. It was hard work following those buggies around but we managed a very respectable 8th place.

There are a selection of the best Firetruck pictures in our gallery here

There are also hundreds and hundreds of amazing photos of all competitors at OffroadImages

Lance Clifford at Pirate4x4.com has a blow by blow account of the competition including some great photos of the competitor. You can find that here

Team Firetruck place 4th at WErock - Bathurst

We have managed to greatly improve on our place at Tough Truck and have come 4th in the second round of Australia's toughest rockcrawling event.

Adrian - won the event in a brand new moon buggy that performed very nicely indeed.
Pete - drove well and grabbed second in his massive FJ40 hybrid and made ample use of his rear steer on the tight courses
Tony - then snatched third away from us in his tube buggy.
Shane - slotted the Firetruck into a very credible fouth place

We only just missed out on third place and will definitely be shooting for a strong podium finish at the Werock round 3 which is planned to be held in Victoria in September.
I will update the site with the exact date, location and details as soon as it is announced.

We have only managed to find one short piece of video footage from the event but will hopefully find some more soon. Check back for an update.

Team Firetruck place 11th at Tuff Truck

We have made it back from Tuff Truck in one piece, and only experiencing
minor breakage for the entire weekend. It was an amazing weekend and we enjoyed ourselves and gained very valuable experience for future competitions

Team Firetruck would like to thank all of our sponsors for their support in making our first Tuff Truck competiton ever a resounding success.

With the experience we have had there is really no doubt that we will be back next year and will be gunning to take out the event.

One of the jeep guys (Andy) that was spectating has kindly supplied a short video of some of our stages at Tuff Truck. There is an offical Tuff Truck DVD that will be released in June/July.
You can check the video out by clicking this link

We will be adding media as it becomes available but in the meantime you can visit the gallery and check out some photos >>
